Yarn Testing Instruments
Count, twist, lea strength, appearance and running tension — the measurements a spinning mill lives by, and the ones a yarn buyer checks on arrival.
Count and CSP work together: skeins are wound on a wrap reel and broken on a lea strength tester. Twist is verified in TPI or TPM on an electronic twist tester, and appearance graded against ASTM D2255 boards. The yarn tension meter is the cheapest instrument here and the one that most often explains a running problem nobody can trace.
